Product Overview
Unlock precise motion control for your electronics projects with the SG90 9g Micro Servo Motor. Known as the “world’s most popular servo,” this tiny but powerful motor is the go-to choice for beginners and experts alike. Whether you are building a robotic arm, an RC aeroplane, or an automated smart home device, the SG90 offers a perfect balance of size, weight, and torque.
This module features a transparent blue lightweight body, nylon gears for smooth operation, and a standard 3-wire interface that connects directly to Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and other microcontrollers without the need for complex motor drivers.
Key Features & Benefits of the Servo Motor SG90
- Featherlight Design: Weighing just 9 grams, it adds motion without weighing down your RC planes or drones.
- 180-Degree Rotation: Capable of precise positioning from 0 to 180 degrees (approx. 90° in each direction).
- High Torque-to-Weight Ratio: Despite its small size, it generates up to 1.8 kg-cm of torque, enough to lift small sensor arrays or actuate mechanisms.
- Universal Compatibility: Works with standard servo libraries (like
Servo.hfor Arduino) and standard PWM signals. - All-Inclusive Kit: Comes ready to use with a set of 3 different servo horns (arms) and mounting screws.

Pinout & Wiring Guide
The SG90 uses a standard 3-wire female connector (Dark Grey/Black connector type).
- Brown (GND): Connect to System Ground (0V).
- Red (VCC): Connect to Positive Power Source (5V). Note: For heavy loads, use an external power supply, not the Arduino’s 5V pin.
- Orange (PWM): Connect to a Digital PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) pin on your microcontroller to send position signals.
How It Works
The SG90 is a positional servo. It contains a small DC motor, a gearbox to increase torque, and a control circuit with a potentiometer.
- Signal Input: You send a PWM signal (pulse) to the Orange wire.
Pulse Interpretation:
- A 1.0ms pulse rotates the servo to 0°.
- A 1.5ms pulse centres it at 90°.
- A 2.0ms pulse rotates it to 180°.
Feedback Loop: The internal potentiometer tracks the current angle, and the motor adjusts continuously to hold the requested position.
Common Applications
- Robotics: Mini robot arms, hexapod walkers, and bipedal robots.
- RC Models: Controlling ailerons, elevators, and rudders on lightweight RC planes and helicopters.
- Camera Systems: Pan and tilt gimbals for FPV cameras.
- IoT: Smart door locks or automatic fish feeders.
