Citrate Agar is used for the cultivation of iron bacteria from soil samples. This media is recommended for the isolation of heterotrophic iron-precipitating bacteria. Dipotassium phosphate provides buffering to the medium. Magnesium sulfate, ammonium sulfate, and calcium chloride are sources of ions that stimulate metabolism.
